How do media-specific spaces of interaction come into being, and how do they shape forms of social order?
This volume brings together contributions that explore the wide spectrum of media-specific interaction, highlighting the complexity of the interdependent interfaces between humans and machines. Drawing on perspectives from media studies, media linguistics, and media art, the authors reveal socio-cultural transformations that emerge through or within these dynamically unfolding spaces of interaction as (un)realities. The volume thus offers an interdisciplinary perspective on the formation, design, and conditions of media-specific interactions.
This publication is based on the graduates’ conference “un:real Spaces of Interaction. Forms of Social Order in the Spectrum of Media-Specific Interaction”, which was funded by the ZeM in 2022 as part of its annual focus theme “Digital Realities”.
