KOORDINATION
Prof. Dr. Chris Wahl, Filmuniversität KONRAD WOLF
This research project undertakes an in-depth study of German film distribution and exhibition in Brazil during the late 1920s and 1930s. It seeks to uncover the origins of Urania Film Co. in Brazil and trace Luiz Grentener’s work as its founder and owner. So far, there have only been a few references on the subject in film history, which do not provide much detail or analysis nor adequately reflect its significance. The case study will contribute new insights about the German strategies on the Brazilian and South American film markets during the period.
