The Knowledge of Sensitive Media
Workshop auf englisch.
The ubiquitous use of sensors has reconfigured the world’s sensitivities. Today, smart homes and smartphones measure movement, toys detect vital functions, and vegetal and elemental entities communicate their condition. Sensors give things, machines, and environments the ability to “feel”—to “sense”—and thus act as interfaces between human and non-human perception. In what ways does this affect the relationships between humans, environments, and technologies? What changes when objects, bodies, cities, and their surroundings turn into sensory networks? What assets and drawbacks come with these new forms of tracking and controlling? In this workshop participants are invited to investigate these recent developments by experiencing, practicing, and discussing materials, technologies, and concepts of sensing.
The workshop takes place as a part of transmediale 2019 program.
